MAGGIE BURKS HALLETT

Waynetown - Mrs. Maggie E. Hallett, 90, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home in Waynetown. She had suffered a stroke last Thursday. She had lived in Waynetown since 1921 when she and her husband moved to this community. They owned and operated a hardware store in Waynetown for many years. Mrs. Hallett was a 50 year member of the Waynetown United Methodist Church. She was educated in Bellmore, Ind. She was born Dec. 15, 1881, near Bellmore, the daughter of James R. and Mary Livengood Burks. She was married to Elijah Hallett Feb. 14, 1900 at Wallace. He preceded her in death in March of 1967. Survivors include a son, Herman of Anderson' a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Bushong of Russellville; four grandchildren, including Mrs. Barbara Biddle of Crawfordsville and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hallett was the last of a family of six children. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremain officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today.-- typed by: Beth R.
